I am so glad you're here and that you are interested in Haiti School of Light! My name is Elizabeth and I am thankful to be a part of such a wonderful organization. My husband and I have been married since December of 2020. We have a couple of angel babies in Heaven, one of which is named Judah! I look forward to meeting him and his sibling one day when we get to Heaven! We have a pretty large family altogether, as my husband is one of eight children (I on the other hand am one of two; I have one younger brother!) We live in a rural town in Missouri and the majority of our immediate family lives nearby too! Family is very important to us and so are people! I have an associates of business degree from Columbia College and have many different credits under my belt. I am very involved at our home church as the Missions Director and the children's Sunday school teacher. I teach a ladies group the first Saturday of each month called Gals of Grace and I also sometimes speak on Wednesday evenings at our church. I am also a preschool teacher at our church's preschool and I teach a class of wonderful students that I love and adore! Getting to teach the children about Jesus is my most favorite part of my job! I am also a photographer and entrepreneur as I create and sell my creations in a local store! I feel that my ability in design, business, and photography has helped to positively impact our outreach at Haiti School of Light. I am a very friendly and outgoing individual who is willing to put the work in to get things done! As soon as I met Dawn and Isaiah, and heard about the mission ministry at Haiti School of Light, I knew that I couldn't turn back. I felt the call immediately to be a part of this mission and God has continually worked this into my life ever since. I am most passionate about women and children in need. I feel that being a teacher in Haiti is an admirable vocation as in many schools they often get paid very little or nothing at all. The children at Haiti School of Light deserve to be loved and to go to school; the children at Haiti School of Light deserve to have a safe place to go where they are able to hear about Jesus Christ. When I was in college for a semester at Saint Louis University, we had a homeless outreach where we made up "blessing bags" and gave them out to homeless individuals on the side of the highway and at intersections. My heart has always been called to missions since I was a teenager! My dad is the pastor of our church, and growing up I often had to give my room to missionaries and evangelists that would travel through (sometimes for months at a time.) As a kid this sometimes frustrated me but as an adult it is something I thank God for often. Being able to sacrifice something for the Kingdom of God and for the ultimate good is such a wonderful blessing and in retrospect it is something that I cherish dearly. Growing up I would often hear stories, firsthand, of how faithful God was all over the world and in the middle of the jungle in a third world country. Hearing stories told at late hours of the night at my childhood kitchen counter, from a tired and worn missionary, as they ate a warm meal together with my family are some of my fondest memories. I am thankful that my parents immersed me in missions from a young age. My paternal grandparents were missionaries to Mexico and would travel there annually for several years. I have had the opportunity to go to Haiti twice and have another trip planned to return. My heart is for missions and is for the people of Haiti that have become like family to us. My husband and I are very involved in missions in any and every way we can be and we have a deep desire to help those in need! There really are no right words to describe how your life is impacted both spiritually and emotionally from going on a missions trip. It is absolutely life changing! There is heartbreak and joy simultaneously, but it is truly in the best of ways! The Lord has a way of breaking your heart for what breaks His and He has a way of showing you how His love really does move mountains. The way the Lord provides for every step of the way still astounds me! His faithfulness is beyond comparison. If going on a mission trip is something you feel called to do, then please answer the call if you are able! The Lord calls so many and so many refuse to answer. Don't let fear stop you; if He calls you to the mission field then He will provide and make a way for you! Stepping out in faith and answering the call was the most difficult thing I have ever done, but it was also the most rewarding and life changing thing I have ever done! All glory be to God!
My favorite food is pizza and my favorite colors are earth tones like moss green, terracotta, and greige! My husband and I love the outdoors and when we have down time, we love to drive down gravel roads near us with the windows down and soak up God's beautiful creation! My favorite hobbies are macrame and canning! I love canning things I have foraged like berries and dandelions in the woods and in my backyard!
